Black Mirror: Hang the DJ Audience Reviews

Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
Clevercell Very disappointing...
Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
TaryBiggBall It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
dontfightagainstthetruth The cast and directing were good but the ending was shoddy, I expected them to be somehow separated, thrown in a jail or even executed for crossing the line, but not only it didn't happen but also the whole story was just a lie/simulation and it didn't happen between the actual persons. How can an app choose your perfect match so accurately and how can you even trust it? Men aren't also satisfied with just one woman even if they love her, they tend to unwantedly change their lovee in their life time. There was also too many unnecessary sex scenes. The good point of this already existing technology is that it isn't supposed to be applied to a side of one's forehead.
MartinHafer My youngest daughter, an adult, watched this episode of "Black Mirror" with me...and I could see that she was clearly embarrassed to have dad watching it with her. Why? Well, because there are quite a few sex scenes. Now you really don't see anything...but it was enough to make my daughter feel mighty uncomfortable! As to the story, it's a very enjoyable and original tale about dating in the future. Frank and Amy meet and go on a date...thanks to a computer device that they carry with them and which tells them who to date and when to end the relationship. The computer keeps reminding each of them that they need to date quite a few people and ultimately the computer will hook them up with the perfect mate. However, apart from the short time they had together at the beginning of the story, both Frank and Amy are miserable following along with the computer. So what ultimately happens? I won't tell you. After all, this would ruin the episode and the interesting twists.Like so many episodes of "Black Mirror", this one is highly original and engaging. While you may not love this episode as you sit and watch, keep with it...the ending makes it all worth while and is one of the better episodes.
bastienfrancois A great episode. But it would have earned a 10/10 if it were a separate movie, or part of another series. Watch out for spoilers, because I am going to pitch what I think would have been the right Black Mirror way to end the episode on:We see two people fall in love together to an extent where they want to overthrow the system and community they live in, just to escape and live happily ever after together. In the end we see that this behavior is in some way 'rewarded' as it contributes to a dating app match score, and we see the real life versions meeting each other for the first time in a club. They smile at each other instantly, and one can only assume that they will end up together. What are my problems with this? It is a happy ending that does not confront the viewer. What if the episodes plays out as it did, but the two characters do not see many versions of themselves out of the dome and it turns out that only a handful of them rebelled to the system, because the others decided to run from outside the dome after meeting their 'true partner'. This would result in a low match score, and we would have seen the real life versions turn their backs to each other, while we just witnessed an incredibly happy ending between the same two individuals in the digital environment. Why is this better in my opinion? Because this is what Black Mirror used to be. This ending would have given me a reason to discuss the accuracy of algorithms and custom AI processes in personal profiling with friends, family and everyone else who watched this. Because Black Mirror did not do that, everyone just watches this episode. Everyone will smile in awe, and everyone will just keep on binging the rest of the season because they were not confronted with a black mirror. When there is a match, there are, as we have seen in this episode, many possible other partners that we pass by, which may have been the truer one.
bilmoo It's funny, it's heartwarming, and it's real. Well, as real as Black Mirror gets. The storyline is essentially that two people are experiencing eHarmony on steroids and the system pairs them up with each other and other people to figure out who is the best match for them. Very cool concept and the characters are ultra-believable.
